Raising Awareness of Forced Migration (FARK) Report Published
The report of the 'Raising Awareness of Forced Migration (FARK) Project, financed by the Refugee Council of Turkey and carried out in partnership with the Afghan Refugees Solidarity and Assistance Association (ARSA) and Support to Life Association) has been published.
The report was shared with the public, international organizations, representatives of non-governmental organizations and participants at the online meeting on September 14, 2022, and solutions were offered by drawing attention to the problems in the field.
Some summary findings of the report are as follows:
Education: Our field work shows that Afghan refugees and their children face serious difficulties in education and training. It is seen that the most important problem in front of accessing education is economic opportunities. The economic difficulties experienced by asylum seekers affect women and children deeply.
Solution suggestions: Awareness studies can be carried out in order to increase the awareness of the education opportunities provided by the Ministry of National Education for families and students. Preventive activities or non-governmental organizations working in this field can be supported, especially when the absence of children between the ages of 13-17 is detected.
Platforms such as the Partnership Network to Prevent Violence Against Children can be supported so that all stakeholder organizations working on child labor can carry out their work more efficiently. Projects on the subject can be designed in consultation with beneficiaries, institutions and organizations providing services on schooling.
Awareness studies can be organized for teachers. In particular, information can be transferred about issues such as peer bullying, which causes children to stay away from school.
