TMK Presentation at the Localization Advocacy Working Group Workshop

TMK shared its initial findings from a research study on the localisation of international funding for refugee response at the workshop.

The Localisation Advocacy Working Group is a local initiative that advocates for the localisation of humanitarian aid in Turkey. The Working Group came together in Ankara on 24 May on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the World Humanitarian Summit (WHS).

The workshop included the participation of actors in the field, local and national NGOs, donors, and international organisations. Representatives at the workshop discussed commitments towards the Grand Bargain, a key outcome of the WHS, and the challenges and best practices in meeting these commitments. The workshop also included discussions on the changes needed for strengthening local and national NGOs.

At the workshop, TMK presented its findings on research it conducted on the localisation of international funding for refugee response in Turkey with 182 local and national actors, 36 donors and 23 international intermediary actors.

The workshop drew on the findings from TMK’s research to inform discussions on the formation of a National Reference Group in Turkey within the scope of the Grand Bargain, to be made up of local and national NGOs, donors and international organisations. The workshop also saw representatıves discuss the components of localisation (financing, capacity, partnerships, coordination, policy, impact and visibility, and participation).
